#ArcherDoesNewYork - Part One

Hey guys,

It has been awhile! If you follow us on Instagram, you’d know we recently took Archer with us to New York City! We had a ton of people ask about our trip and wanted to know more about what it’s like traveling with a dog in the city. So I have decided to share our trip in two parts! The first part of our blog, I’d love to share where we stayed: Staypineapple New York!

When I first heard about Staypineapple, I was intrigued not only by the theme of pineapples but more so how dog-friendly they are. I feel like that’s an understatement. They are more like dog obsessed. They have hotels in San Francisco, San Diego, Chicago, Boston, Seattle, Portland and New York City, and I knew we had to visit one of those cities and stay with them. And boy am I glad we did!

Staypineapple New York is located in THE BEST area. It was Midtown New York, pretty much next to Penn Station and it was walking distance to subway stations, delicious restaurants and popular New York attractions like Time Square, the High Line and The Vessel. Because we were midtown, we found it so easy to go uptown and visit Central Park or downtown to go to SoHo area. The location was so convenient that I would totally pick this area again for the next time we go!

Staypineapple takes pride in catering to all dogs (and hoomans) and makes sure your stay is comfortable. They gave Archer a big dog bed and a dog bowl. But more importantly, I need to emphasize that the hooman bed was one THE MOST comfortable beds we’ve ever had at a hotel. This explains why Archer wanted to sleep in the bed with us the whole time. The bed comes with cloud like European-style individual duvets, so you don’t have to fight over the covers with your partner which I think is GENIUS. Unfortunately, both Archer’s dad and I caught the flu in NYC but we are so thankful for these beds because they gave us the best sleeps. Coming home, it has crossed our minds to go buy another duvet. I love the idea of not sharing blankets, especially since winter is coming and we both want to stay warm and cozy, Archer included.

One thing that stuck out to me that I think differentiates Staypineapple from other hotels is their understanding that sometimes hoomans need our own time to explore the city and we can’t bring our dogs everywhere. I love that they let you know that it is okay to leave your pet at the hotel if needed. They provide you with doggie door hangers to let housekeeping know to come back later. Other hotels we have stayed in, in the past have had strict rules about leaving Archer alone in the room. The majority of the ones we’ve experienced, the rule was you weren’t allowed to leave pets unattended. I’ve even come across one where they would charge you for every hour you do. Rules like these have always discouraged us from bringing Archer on our trips. But I am so happy that we have finally found a hotel brand that loves dogs as much as we do! I am dying to take Archer to visit the other Staypineapple hotels.

Other amenities offered at the Staypineapple New York: cozy robes, cruiser bikes, hooman treats in the morning (pastries and coffee) and in the afternoon (pineapple sugar cookies and coffee), pineapple infused water, and free WiFi! One thing to note is they do charge a daily pet fee but they have a Pineapple Pup Package where you can save 50% off the fee. This is offered at all their other hotels as well.

I also want to point out and introduce Dash, Staypineapple’s mascot. He is a plush husky and you will find him in every room. You can actually take Dash home, and a portion of the sale is donated to animal rescue organizations! Dash actually has his own Instagram account, @dashthepineapplepup so you can follow his adventures!

Despite having the flu while in NYC, we still made the best of our trip. We are so glad we got to finally visit and experience Staypineapple. This definitely will not be our last visit. Totally adding all the other cities to our travel list, and Archer will be coming with us for sure!

Be on the lookout for #ArcherDoesNewYork - Part Two! I will be getting more into what we did in New York and what it was like traveling with Archer around the city. If there are any specific questions or experiences you want me to share, comment below. Also if you have stayed at a Staypineapple in New York or other cities, we want to hear about your experience!
